Five Master Edits With Sound

 

Music: I added music to the clip showing the Rock in our contrast clip because the song represents the Rock. The Rock is a very strong man and this can be heard through the song he is featured in. As he states that he has something "cooking", the audience can tell that the Rock is someone that shouldn't be messed with while Uriel doesn't know what he is up against. This is also a form of a non-diegetic sound as the audience can hear the background music however the people in the live clip cannot.

Non-Diegetic: An example of non-diegetic sound in our short film would be during the symbolism clip. The sound of a calm river when showing a little bowl of water compared to a waterfall sound when showing a much larger body of water in the pool, highlights the difference in the amount of water. Only the audience can hear this audio which is why it is non-diegetic but it also gives the audience a better sense of how much water the pool holds compared to a small bowl.

Music: In the clip of simultaneity, the addition of the music "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" demonstrates Uriel wanting to play baseball. This song is typically played at a baseball game where kids love to believe they are on the teams playing. In this clip, Uriel is portrayed as one of those kids in theory who wants to swing a bat and play the game of baseball. It also gives the emotion of happiness because this song is usually around in a time of fun and joy which Uriel portrays in the clip.

Diegetic Sound: An example of this type of sound can be seen in the first part of the parallelism clips. The sound in this clip includes the voices of many students chatting and talking with other students around them before class. This is diegetic because the people in that shot could hear the sound presented in the clip. This clip was to show a break in the students schedule and between classes which is demonstrated by the loud talking between all of the students.

Direct Sound: In our example of the Leit Motif, we chose to leave the natural sound of the movie Rocky in our clip. This sound is playing from the tv so that viewers can hear the same sound as the character jogging in the film. This allows the audience to feel the determination and strength of the character on screen as he is preparing for his upcoming fight.
