Movie Opener Brainstorming & Research

 Rise: The camera angles in this clip were meticulously planned. I noticed that it made the audience feel like they are in the situation themselves. It also provides insight into the lives of the character and adds an upbeat mood to the film. The music transitions were notable, ranging from quiet to louder. The film is especially intriguing because it ends on a cliffhanger with the two guys staring each other down. The film also uses close ups which shows what the film is focused on. It varied from the characters emotions to gearing up to play soccer.  Dear Lover: The music and backdrop in the beginning set the ideal scene for a sad concept. The camera angles showed nice angles  showing the river and movement of the water. The voice over adds to the sadness in the character's voice and gives the idea of a documentary or story telling film. Dare to Thrill: This picture has a lot of energy, and the characters appear to be at a party or just enjoying their time as young kids...

Film Opening Research #2 - Shrek

  How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film?  During the opening sequences to the film, there is a total of 5 titles displayed, four of the voice actors and the first being the movie title. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?  In the opening sequence, there is a total of three different scenes. At first, it opens to images of a storybook and the main character, Shrek is what we're told is his name, reading. It then cuts to several scenes of Shrek, the green large ogre, going through what can be assumed to be normal everyday activities for him. This includes bathing in mud, brushing his teeth with slug slime, and painting a warning sign. The camera then cuts to a group of villagers huddled together, preparing to take on the supposed 'Shrek', although the audience is never told whether or not this is his real or full name.   How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? There are 3 titles displayed in the opening sequence to the film. The first title displayed is "Columbia", the entertainment company. Next is, "Happy Madison Productions", the production company. Finally, the 3rd title displayed is the title of the movie, "Paul Blart Mall Cop". What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?  The image that is prioritized in the opening sequence is the badge, which clearly looks like a type of officer badge. This shows that the movie will be about a cop associated with the title Mall Cop. What connotations do the images carry? The connotations that image carries is that the movie and characters will probably be dramatic in a comedic way.
